General Info: The Tennessee Highway Patrol is operated by the Department of Safety of the state of Tennessee. It is responsible for the enforcement of all federal and state laws related to traffic. The agency investigates accidents involving property damage, personal injury and fatalities. The Tennessee Highway Patrol is active in criminal interdictions that involve suppression of narcotics on roads, highways and interstate systems in Tennessee. It operates commercial vehicle enforcement and criminal investigation divisions. The agency maintains the special operations unit, which consists of the aviation section, tactical and bomb squad, K-9 section and Governors Task Force on marijuana eradication. The Tennessee Highway Patrol maintains a location in Chattanooga, Tenn.
