Provided by CitysearchAfter going to Giant Eagle to get Oyster Sauce I asked cashier Maria where I could find an Asian Market. She told me how close it was. I found it easily, just past Demorest Road on Sullivant Avenue on the south side of the street. There's plenty of parking and even after snow and ice, the walk ways were clear!
This was my first time going into an Asian market but it won't be my last. I was amazed at the variety of items. I went for Oyster sauce and left with IQF Raw Shrimp, dumpling wrappers, Dragonfly Oyster Sauce, and Vegetarian Dumpling Sauce. This is truely one stop shopping. I saw spices that I've never heard of, spring roll wrappers (which I didn't know they made), dried fish (which my Vietnamese friends taught me to eat with sauces), rice paper that looked yummy and so many kinds of fresh vegetables and spices. This store is one stop shopping. I started shopping for ingredients for dumplings, then I added egg rolls, won tons and crab rangoon.
There are a very few items that are completely not in English and I have no idea what they are or how to use them. But I'd say 95 percent of the store has somewhere on the label what it is in English to be able to figure out what it's used for.
My cashier was Saroun. Very nice, patient and friendly. Highly Recommend

Provided by CitysearchMmmmm... I'm enjoying some cuttlefish SPHERES for lunch right now! Man, I love fish GLOBULES, and Luc's has a tremendous variety of fish SPHERES (can you believe ""b*lls"" is an inappropriate word here??) -- cheap, too!
This morning I had canned quail eggs, and lap xuong (after all these years, I finally saw that word in print, I always called it lop chong) for breakfast.
Guess where I shop?
I love trying new things from Luc's, and some of the items I discover become regular favorites for me. Like a couple of weeks ago, I tried the 5.5 ounce can of mackerel in red curry sauce.... 89 CENTS, hey, can't go wrong, right? It's DELICIOUS! 89 cents for high-quality protein that tastes great... gotta be one of the best canned fish values around. Buy frozen octopi, frozen edible insects, fresh asian vegetables, KING FUNGUS, yum... huge selection of dried mushrooms, great drinks, chunky, chewy drinks like aloe and lychee juice, lap xuong (I always thought it was ""lop chong""!).
You can get some pretty interesting altars and statues there, too, if you're into that sort of thing: good luck kitties, Buddhas both fat and skinny, quite a selection, actually. I'm tempted to get a rodent figurine and put it on a red altar, myself.
Oh, I didn't mention rice. Well, it is an asian market, after all, so rice goes without sayin', dunnit? White rice, black rice, sweet rice, black sweet rice, jasmine rice, long grain, short grain, spherical?... yeah, rice
Hey, try something different in soy sauce! You thought you knew soy sauce!? Ha!
Durian fruit! Get your DURIAN FRUIT! Andrew Zimmern is a wuss! This is the King of Fruits, dammit!
