Amazing

Hands down the best Lasagna that I have ever had. I've eaten at many Italian Restaurants. I'm a freak. My buddy cut off a piece of his Veal and it too was amazing. I can't wait to come back to try their Meatballs.

We booked a party room at TAT ...

We booked a party room at TAT Restaurant located at 1210 S. James Rd, Columbus, OH 43227 for 22 guests in October 2012 for my mother’s 80th Birthday party well in advance.

Party was set for 12/26/12 @ 5PM. All the guests were between 80 and 92 years old, elderly ladies, her friends, all residing in a Wexner Heritage Tower nearby. All of them non - drivers. The location and the "family restaurant” name were the reason to book the TAT as it was 10 min drive for us to bring our guests there. My daughters were going to fly for grandma’s B-day from California where they both live.

At the time of booking restaurant manager allowed us to bring a few bottles of Champagne and use a TV positioned in a room for a 10 minutes slide photo show. I was going to pay $100 deposit to reserve the room, but manager told me it is not necessary and all I need to do is to come 10 days prior to the party and make final entrees selection. Well, ten days prior to the party when my daughter came to place final order manager was not there, owner suddenly requested corkage fee per bottle, $100 security deposit and $50.00 to use a TV ( he said, it is because they just bought a new TV!). She paid security deposit, and then called me (I was on vacation, out of the states), I had to call manager and she apologized and confirmed to no corkage and no TV fee.

It did not feel right already. How I wish now that we cancelled and walk away at that moment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, on a party day 12/26/12 in the morning the weather was not great, it was snowing and could turn into freezing rain. I called to TAT at 9AM and discussed our options. Mary Ann picked up the phone and told me that restaurant is open and she can give me 3 options for the party, but she needs to know within 2 hours, by 11 AM what are we decided to do. Below are the options she gave me:

1. They let us cancel the party

2. They cook and we pick up food and serve it somewhere else (if we afraid the weather turns really bad)

3. We can continue as planned and party will start at 5PM.

Luckily by 11 AM snow stopped and prognosis turned to better, city cleaned both Livingston and James Roads and we decided to proceed. I called Mary Ann at 11AM and told her that we are not changing any plans and will be there at TAT at 5PM. She replied that she is looking forward to it.

What happened next: My cell phone rung at 1:10 PM, it was TAT letting me know that they decided to close restaurant as many of employees called off. Sorry for inconvenience. If you would like she said we can sell you a tray of frozen lasagna for $90.

There were no snow emergency declaration of any kind, any snowing or raining at all, roads were in drivable condition. Restaurant just did not have any customers on that day, I assume. They collected $100 from us to hold in case we cancel, they coldheartedly cancelled on us 4 hours prior to the party, ruined my mother’s 80th Birthday party and did not suffer any circumstances.

They even had a nerve to try to sell me their frozen lasagna for $90 in order to keep my $100 security deposit. What a horrible place and horrible ownership, what a shame to have such place in our community!

Step Into The Past

Being from Indianapolis and knowing the best places to go for Italian food, I have been on the look out for a great authentic Italian restaurant. I found it. TATs is like stepping into the middle of a Godfather movie! The brother/host up front is total class and a gentleman. The food is too die for! The meatballs are wonderful and the wedding soup is the best I have ever had! Try their early bird special from 5 - 6PM is to die for! I highly recommend it!
