Currently, most local PCPs partner with Washington Regional’s hospitalist team, allowing the hospitalists to treat your medical needs and offer you more focused attention while you are hospitalized. A hospital has a price list similar to most businesses. In a hospital, this list is called a “Chargemaster” or Charge Description Master (CDM). A Chargemaster is a comprehensive list of all the billable items and services provided within the hospital. For example, it includes various medical procedures, lab tests, supplies, and medications. A hospital charges for every item used in the care of a patient. The billed charges for every item are the same for every patient. The unique complexity of each patient’s condition generally results in usage of different charge items. As a result, very few patients have identical charges. Please note that billed charges only cover the hospital’s charges; they do not cover professional fees of physicians and other professionals who may provide care to you within the hospital. For example, if you are seen in the Emergency Department by a physician you will receive a separate bill for his/her service. If you need surgery you will also receive a separate bill from the surgeon, the anesthesiologist, and maybe even a radiologist, pathologist or physician who interpreted a cardiology exam like an EKG.

Washington Regional is the only Level II Trauma Center in Northwest Arkansas and provides the area's highest level of trauma care. Level II Trauma Centers can provide care for critically ill or injured patients with 24-hour immediate coverage by general surgery, orthopedic surgery, neurosurgery, anesthesiology, emergency medicine, radiology and critical care. Our trauma center team also includes specialists in interventional radiology, pulmonology, cardiovascular and thoracic surgery, urology, maxillofacial surgery, and ophthalmology.

OB-GYN, Dr. Amy Scott, and Dr. Allen Moseley, a critical care doctor in the COVID unit, immediately began planning what to do if Darla’s baby needed to be delivered. “They were giving her medication to help develop the baby’s lungs because they had a feeling that if mom got bad enough that she had to go on the ventilator, they were going to have to deliver the baby via C-section,” Adrian explains.

Most hospitalists are board-certified internal medicine physicians who have undergone the same training as other internal medicine doctors who see patients in a clinic setting. The Intensive Care Units (ICU) at Washington Regional Medical Center care for patients who require more frequent medical and nursing assessments and intervention based on their physical condition. These units is designed with specialized equipment to meet the needs of our more critically ill patients. The ICU staff consists of specially trained physicians, nurses, and therapy services, and is supported by pastoral care, radiology, laboratory, dietary, pharmacy, environmental services and a host of other hospital support teams. We understand that having a loved one in the hospital with a serious injury or illness can be a difficult experience. Our goal is to help make this time as stress-free for you as possible.

No one wants to end up in the hospital – especially during a pandemic – but when veteran Justin Six of Springdale became sick, help couldn’t wait. “He’d been feeling nauseated and woke up vomiting blood,” his wife Brandi explains. She rushed Justin to the Veterans Health Care System of the Ozarks. Doctors there discovered a virus, one not related to Coronavirus, was responsible for his symptoms. But a CT scan revealed another problem – a dangerous blood clot near Justin’s abdominal aorta. “It was a fluke they found it,” Brandi says. “If it hadn’t been for the virus, they wouldn’t have found the clot.”
