General Info: Operational for more than 100 years, American Electric Power is one of the largest electric utilities in the United States that deliver electricity to more than 5 million customers in over 10 U.S. states. The company also owns coal mines, barges, rail cars and transportation terminals. Its utility units operate as AEP Ohio, AEP Texas, Appalachian Power, Indiana Michigan Power, Kentucky Power, Public Service Company of Oklahoma and Southwestern Electric Power Company. American Electric Power is a member of the Coal Combustion Products Partnership and offers coal combustion products. The company owns nearly 38,000 megawatts of electricity generating capacity. Its transmission system directly and indirectly serves more than 10 percent of the electricity demand in the Eastern Interconnection. The company also provides natural gas, coal, oil and sulfur dioxide. American Electric Power is headquartered in Columbus, Ohio.
