What I expected

As far as what I want when I go to a BBQ place, Famous Dave's isn't anywhre close. I've never been until last two nights ago. I went with work. I ordered a full slab of ribs. You get a big portion allright. I will say that, but they simply weren't even close to being cooked properly. You can tell that low and slow isn't in their vocabulary. The biggest test to how well ribs are cooked is does it ""fall off the bone"". Easy to tell they are cooking these things too hot and too quick. There wasn't a lot of smoke on them either. I got the standby coleslaw beans and corn. Blah, Blah, and Blah. Overall I would say there is at least 7 or 8 better BBQ places in Nashville than this one. The only real positive here is they do have some fairly good sauces, which is needed when the Q isn't done right.

Great place to go anytime

I wouldn't say Dave's has the most authentic BBQ or anything, but I still love this restaurant. My friends and I have made this our staple. Whether you get ribs, pork, chicken, catfish, or brisket, you really can't go wrong. I also highly recommend their Chicken Wild Rice Soup as a starter. It is awesome. And their Cornbread Muffins are amazing. This is really an all-around great place to go with friends, family, or whatever. Don't miss it.

Good BBQ, timing is everthing.

Famous Dave's has great food and generally good service but sometimes the rib tips and other barbecue items seem to have been sitting out for a while. My experience has been that when it comes to bbq, timing often determines how good the food is going to be. The same goes for Chinese buffets. There have been a few times when the meat was tough and had a bit of an off taste, the fries just warm and saturated with oil, and the wings were dry and loose in the skin like they had spent some time under a warmer. Kind of sounds like I don't care for the place right? Wrong! When the BBQ is good, it's really good, They simply have the best side salad that I know of in the whole area, and there are a few of their servers that are the personification of professionalism in a restaraunt of this type, and a couple that aren't, although they seem to cycle out pretty often. Overall, this is one of our favorites, and we don't anticipate that changing any time soon. It would be nice if they paid a little more attention to the restrooms, and kept the food a little fresher, but as I said, the salad alone is enough to win me back, and mabye the football sized baked potatoes- it's really that good.

Great family BBQ!!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Famous Dave's! It is so amazing and I have never had a bad meal there. My particular favorites are the Gerogia chopped pork BBQ sandwich, the rib tips, and their side (drunken apples, fries, corn muffins, and baked beans) are incredible. The staff is really friendly and the portions are HUGE. I ALWAYS have food to take home. The appetzier sampler is also delicious-their hot wings, chicken tenders, and their catfish strips...THEY ARE FABULOUS! You have to try them! Also, if you love a good deal (which I do), go to their website and join their P.I.G club-you get a free dinner on your birthday! YUMMY! One word of caution though, if you are planning on going on a Friday or Saturday night, be prepared for a wait...but it's so worth it!

FAMOUS FOR SURE!

My teenage boys kept saying: momma...you gotta try it! But, i'm not usually crazy for BBQ. When they offered to pay...that was for me! And wow...what i have been missing! Our server kept saying: you'll get a hankerin' for this tomorrow. And she was RIGHT! i woke up dreaming about those ribs! So tender, they were falling off the bone! Juicy too - and i think they threw them on the grill too because they had just the right char to make them perfect! Definitely worth getting messy for! One son has the catfish fingers - GREAT flavor. Another had the Cajun Grilled chicken sandwich - ohmigosh! Unbelievable. I can't wait to go back!

Definitely had more than we could eat...and our server was truly Famous!

The girls at work can't wait to go for the brisket salad! Yum Yum.

Family friendly...enough food for teenage sons...friendly wait staff...and they cater too! What more could you want from a Barbecue joint?

They're locally owned too...the owner came by while I was there to THANK ME for dining with them. You bet i'll be back and often!

$13 for 6 ribs

I would certainly pay $13 if the ribs were good, but from the first to the last, they were gristly and tough with less meat than expected. Old cow maybe? I dont know, but I was disappointed and won't try other menu items as I use ribs as my barometer. ( I went through drive-in)

Great Wings!

I love the wings and all the different bar-b-que flavors they have. (Try the ""Devil's Spi_"" if you like it HOT with great flavor.) I was very disappointed with the ribs. Of course, I am from Memphis and very descriminating about my ribs! (NEVER order ribs in Florida....aaaack). Watch out for the pig, sometimes gets a little to friendly...lol.

So it's a chain.....

...the food is still amazing!! The Feast for 2 covers all bases (see picture) and is our family's favorite. It easily feeds 3 and they will bring an extra corn and cornbread for the 3rd person. Join the P.I.G. Club online for great coupons on your birthday!!

mmm...mmm good!

Okay, so it's not Tennessee BBQ, and yes, it's a chain, but man it's good. The food is delicious, the service is fabulous, the portion sizes are huge, and the ambience is cool. I have only had a problem with my food there once (being over-seasoned) and when I filled out a comment card I was personally contacted about my experience and it was handled wonderfully! Make sure you go hungry 'cause the portion sizes are monstrous! And if you get dessert, you might consider a half-portion!

Best Barbecue I've had to date

While I'm not from the south, I have frequented my share of BBQ joints and Famous Daves lives up to the hype. For those who say it's a sellout chain, that couldn't be farther from the truth! There are 5 family-owned restaurants in all, and the food is top notch. A huge selection of BBQ and sides will make anyones mouth water, and the service and atmosphere will make you feel right at home.

AMAZING

I went to the Famous Dave's near Nashville, TN while on a road trip to Texas, and all I have to say is this. It was the best, most amazing, delicious resturant that I have EVER been to in my ENTIRE life. The wait was a little long because it was 5 o clock on a friday night, but it was sooo worth it! We're going back to TN this summer just to go eat there again.

OUT OF THIS WORLD!

I'm in the Air Force and recently was relocated to Nashville. This was the first place my co-workers took me to eat. The staff is outstanding, the food is outrageously delicious and the atmosphere is great. Famous Bob, the manager, comes around to your table to make sure you're pleased... but there's never any doubt that your server is being sweet and the food is always going to be the best you'll find in this area.
Barbecue is my favorite food and I've tried it all over the United States in my travels... this definitely ranks up there. Second only to a small backwoods place in Cabot, Arkansas, called The Mean Pig.
Definitely make your rounds to Famous Dave's a priority!

WORTH THE WAIT

HAD TO WAIT ALMOST AN HOUR!!!
BUT THE BEST RIBS I HAVE EVER HAD !!!
I HAVE LIVED ALL OVER THE COUNTRY, HAD RIBS IN MEMPHIS, KANSAS CITY, CHICAGO, BIRMINGHAM . . . NEVER HAD RIBS LIKE THESE!

THE EMPLOYEES ARE BETTER THAN I HAVE EXPERIENCED AT A LOT OF OTHER PLACES TOO.

Favbulous BBQ!!!!

Of all the reviews of this restaurant, I only see 2 negatives, and I can honestly say that these people truly don't know real BBQ. They are probably used to the oven baked vinegary based bbq known for this area, which is not true BBQ.
Absoloutly the best I have ever had. That includes the Ribs, the GA Pulled Pork, the Beef Brisket. I have tried it all. Their wings are the best anywhere, and the bleu cheese dressing is to die for (this comes from someone that actually HATES bleu cheese dressing) Dave's is the only bleu cheese that I will eat.
The service is the best. Of all the times my husband and I have eaten at Dave's, we have never had less than perfect service. The manager never fails to visit our table to check on our meal.

Good but... not Nashville

Famous Dave's is great BBQ... however, it is still a glorified national chain BBQ. The food is good, espically since you have a choice of sauce (Devil's Spit). I recommend having the Georgia Chopped Pork Sandwich, Memphis Style (with cole slaw on the sandwich)... but that is the crux. Famous Dave's does an excellent job of combining the better tastes of smaller southern BBQ restraunts. The atmosphere just is not there

absolutely the best!

7 types of BBQ sauce on the table for you to choose from, corn muffins that melt in your mouth, first timers should try the ""feast"" which gives you an opportunity to try several items (yes, you'll take some home). Also, the BEST margaritas in town!
