I have made other office visits in the past to doctors and did not think anything about additional costs. Upon receiving my bill from Premier Ortho and reaching out to both the billing department for their company and my insurance provider, I have discovered that the doctor is charging me $175 dollars for taking less than 30 seconds to give me a shot in my leg which was only $15 for the drug. The insurance company advised me that Premier Ortho billed this as a same day surgical procedure and that is the reason for the additional fee. When I questioned the billing department and inquired on why this was not disclosed to me, Tiffany said they were not required to provide me with that information and it was my responsibility to ask those questions. Never did I anticipate their office considering a shot in my leg the same thing as a surgical procedure, especially when the doctor just stabbed my knee and injected the fluid.
