General Info: Shining Light Reading Series is a not-for-profit corporation providing learning, self-expression and communication tools for children. Based in Little Rock, Ark., it offers a four volume reading series, which begins with 'Learning Letter Sounds', the introduction of the 26 letters of the alphabet; 'Sound-It-Out Words', wherein the children learn to recognize letters and distinguish individual sounds in a word; 'Think-It-Out Words', wherein nonphonetic words and simple stories are taught; and 'Handwriting', which presents step-by-step writing instructions. It also offers other products for beginning readers and parents. Additionally, the firm offers consulting services to schools and other organizations for improving child and adult literacy. The Shining Light Reading Series is a product of Born Free Inc.
