Established in 1929, Goodwill offers a range of employment opportunities for people who suffer from several disabilities. As a nonprofit organization, it conducts several skills training, education, job preparation and placement programs. Goodwill has more than 180 independent community-based organizations in the United States and Canada. It supports the More Opportunities for Vocational Employment program for the development of customer service skills. The organization serves over 20 cities and communities in southern Los Angeles County in California. It issues nearly 7,800 paychecks annually. Goodwill provides custodial, document destruction, job search assistance and adult education services. The organization operates several retail stores.
