Was very disappointed with the service that we got. We had reservations for 9pm took them half an hour to sit us down. At dinner I ordered a fountain drink and it was brought to me after I finished my dinner, when told the waitress I don't want it anymore since I'm done with dinner she said, " oh yeah that took long" and was still charged for the drink.
This was a great place for the dinner. Service was excelence as well as food. Would love to go back again.

Provided by CitysearchUsed to come here for social events but haven't been in a while. The food is solid, the wait staff on point and isn't too stuffy and snotty. A good mix of crowd and a staff that make you feel welcome. I've never been for dinner only had drinks and appetizers but it's on my list of must do. If you haven't - you should.

Provided by CitysearchStopped in here earlier this week for dinner. Taking in the neighborhood, I was expecting a bevy of rail thin waifs to be overpopulating the bar, but the original Katsuya has quite a different vibe from its neighbors or even its Hollywood counterpart. The atmosphere was relaxed and very easygoing, no bumpin' club music or rush to be escorted out of the place. The staff was friendly and accommodating, and the food, as expected, was top notch. This time I opted for something warm and settled for the shrimp tobanyaki, which was great. They really do their hot stuff just as well as their trademark sushi (which I dabbled in, couldn't resist a scallop roll). I don't make it out to the Brentwood area often, but next time I do, I think I've found my new local spot. 5 stars.
LOVE Katsuya! My first time at this location, and I enjoyed every second of it! The female server was super friendly and helpful to me and my two friends. I'm really into Japanese culture and art, so my favorite part of the decor was the giant wall art of the geisha lips and eyes, so striking and I couldn't stop staring at them!
The cocktail I had was delicious; I got the Kiwi Envy since I love gin. It was refreshing and strong, and the kiwi flavor was an interesting [yet totally pleasant] touch.
I ordered the Rock Shrimp Tempura Roll... SO tasty! Even though it was a little difficult to fit the whole thing in my mouth all at once, I admit I cheated with a couple pieces and ate the shrimp separately.
All in all a great experience! I will definitely come back!

Provided by CitysearchBrentwood has some fine eateries. This is not the best one I can imagine. Just a ways down the street are fine Sushi alternatives. For a bit more dough, I'd hit up Nobu any day of the week.
The Starck interior is fun the first time around. The second time around it not so much intriguing. Alas, that is just the way it is. Go to Taschen a few times and you'll see what I mean. Don't get me wrong, if the food was as good as the book selection at Taschen, even remotely so, then I'd be going back to Katsuya because you just can't get it like that all in one place. UNFORTUNATELY you can get far better sushi, yakitori, and drink at any other place around town.
Overpriced for what it is in Brentwood, but if you don't care it is sorta good and not too much trouble to get to.
My new favorite restaurant in LA. Katsuya is fun, upscale, and DELICIOUS! The Cajun Style Halibut Cheeks are very tasty! And as for cocktails, go with "The Dragon", trust me! This is a great Katsuya, maybe one of the better ones out of the brand!

Provided by CitysearchAmazing place, more than just sushi! When I get over to this location of Katsuya, I know I am going to order the Jalapeño Yellowtail, enough said. The seafood dishes at this place are nuts, made even the biggest red-meat eater like me a fish guy! And it's nice to get over to this one to get away from the Hollywood crowd (although I love that location too!).
GO, NOW! ;)

Provided by CitysearchOH MY GOD..! TELL ME ABOUT A FANTASTIC SUSHI EXPERIENCE..! @ GREAT PRICES TOO!
ok, the food is amazing.. & prices absolutely reasonable.. I LOVE roles & the regular ones run from 6 to 10 bucks an order, each order includes 6 to 8 pieces.
Specialty roles go anywhere from 10 to 18, for the same number pieces, but they are much bigger.
my favorite sashimi plate is 27 for more than 8 slices of amazing fish..!
DO make reservations for the weekends because it's gonna be jam packed. you might see celebrities too!!

Provided by CitysearchGreat dining experience! The staff was amazing. I went to a friends birthday party here and would recommend it to anyone. I really loved the not so traditional menu items.

Provided by CitysearchIf you stick to the Katsuya classics (spicy tuna on rice etc.) you'll do just fine at this location and the Hollywood location. Stay away from the Brand and Downtown. Great date vibes and sleek interior (especially at the Vine Street Katsuya). If you want the REAL experience. however, get to the original Katsuya in Studio City or Kiwami, where you'll find the chef who started it all.
