Provided by CitysearchI found my spirituality with the help and guidance of the wonderful people at Liberation. I really wasn't into finding my bliss when I started going there. I was into it for the workout. But the lovely nurturing spirit that infuses everything they do there allowed me the space to find my own entry point into a better a place for myself, and for that I am eternally grateful.

Provided by CitysearchI am 50 yrs old and have been going to yoga for about 6 yrs around Los angeles, at different locations such as local schools and gyms. Those types of classes, are good however they are oriented to large groups and skill levels are loosely oriented, with a limited attention to individuals.
The first time I went to Liberation I was in a level one class, and I was hooked!! All of a sudden I was to learn with detail how to do the poses I was doing for the last several years, with a great almost personal trainer.
Liberation is the best personal classes I have been to

Provided by CitysearchI moved to Los Angeles a little over 3 years ago and my first order of business was to find a yoga studio. I divinely landed at Liberation and have never strayed since. I even took their yoga teacher training course! You just feel the warmth and caring the moment you walk through the door. The classes are fabulous and always exactly what I need. Skilled teachers and the added bonus is that the other yogis that are attracted to this place are just as kind and warm and open as the studio! Truly a gem! I highly recommend.

Provided by CitysearchThis is my favorite yoga studio I've found in LA. I love the warm, peaceful atmosphere and the non-pretentious teachers. The teachers have a variety of teaching styles so if one doesn't fit with you, try another. They have the best policy regarding packages of classes. You can actually save money on the package and not worry about it expiring before you use it. I definitely have a soft spot in my heart for this place.

Provided by CitysearchChristine Burke and Gary McCleary, owners of Liberation Yoga, have created a very special oasis in the heart of Los Angeles, which is no easy feat! It is a rare thing indeed to meet people who actually stand by their intentions, mean what they say and live their lives and run their business with integrity and compassion. These folks are it! Not to mention the fact that the teachers are incredible, kind and spiritually aware. Everyone here knows their stuff. This studio has become like a second home to me and I am so very grateful that Liberation exists!

Provided by CitysearchI absolutely love this studio from top to bottom. It's gorgeous and very comfortable inside. The teachers & staff are some of the best I've ever met because they take the time to give each individual the attention they deserve while providing the class with a powerful message before we jump into action. The prices are reasonable considering all of the attention you receive and they do offer a great unlimited package. The first class is always free so you should definitely come check them out!

Provided by CitysearchI took my very first yoga class here, after years of running and injuring my knees. It completely changed my life--I never want to run again! The teachers and staff are wonderful and I always leave there feeling like a different person.

Provided by CitysearchEverything about Liberation is just right. With only two rooms, one indoors and one in the outdoor ""garden"", the classes feel intimate and personal. Both rooms have a beautiful, spiritual quality to them. It is the absolute antithesis of places like the yoga studio on Larchmont, with their oversized classes and cold feel to the rooms.
Liberation's owners, Christine and Gary, have created a very spiritual and welcoming vibe. The teachers are wonderful and it is always a joy to take classes there. There's no ""attitude"". They all make everyone from beginners to the most experienced feel welcome.
This is everything the yoga experience is supposed to be. The only downside is that sometimes the space can get a little crowded.....but that's because 18 or so is about all that can fit rather than the huge numbers crammed into classes at other places. Most of the classes I've taken have tended to be 10-12 students which was quite comfortable in the space.

Provided by CitysearchThis place doesn't have any of the pretentiousness of some of the studio's around. It's homey, and has a great, comfortable vibe. They offer great specials for KCRW and SAG members and is probably the most affordable studio in the city. The owner, Christine, walks the talk, and leads from her heart and soul. She has created a supportive, real, accessible space to practice yoga. The garden studio is very special. Water damage a few years ago caused the need to redo the inside studio. It still has a great vibe though even though it doesn't have any windows and the flooring is not as nice. Doesn't really matter though, because the spirit of the place permeates even the laminate flooring. :)

Provided by CitysearchI followed my favorite teacher, Will Duprey, to Liberation Yoga when another favorite yoga studio closed. I have not yet found another studio to match Liberation's intimacy and sense of community.
The students and teachers at Liberation are there to really learn and dig deeper into their yoga practice. No attitudes, no egos. Just fun. Gary and Christine make it such a joy to pop in and say hello.

Provided by CitysearchPeruse the everchanging Art Corridor that bridges the garden & front studios to realize that creativity, talent, and the kindness to share inspires students and teachers here. Don't be shy--try a new style--you'll be welcome. Most teachers come early or stay late to answer questions in the ""yoga lobby"" by the front desk, but they'll watch out for you in class, too.--injury prevention and subtle adjustments are common here. Many teachers have backgrounds in yoga therapy, personal training, and dance as well as multiple certification in different yoga styles and experience teaching athletes, children, and beginners.
If you want to learn about breathing techniques, yoga music, philosophy, and tradition it's all here,in multiplicity. The variety is astounding!
For a strong vinyasa class with individualized teaching and enjoyable music, I recommend Sherida Mulrowe and Jennifer Long.
Even if you've been practicing for years, you'll be challenged by a class with Sarah Isenberg or Christine Burke9 who are also very beginner friendly).
Get the monthlY unlimited and try them all!

Provided by CitysearchI am by no means a yoga enthusiast like so many Angelinos. However, I do appreciate kind people with clear intentions who have solid ground beneath their feet. Each time I have taken a class at Liberation, I have been impressed by the ease with which the above mentioned traits come through. I have taken classes with a variety of teachers, each with a different style, always minus pretense and plus big heartedness. It's a safe place for even the most beginner student to explore the vastness that yoga practice allows for us to enter into while still in our bodies, anchored to the ground.

Provided by CitysearchThis is the yoga studio you go to if you just want to practice yoga, period. A very healthy, non-competitive atmosphere and reasonable prices, particularly if you can go during the day.

Provided by CitysearchThis studio isn't just about ""taking yoga"", it's about living your life with more grace and peace. The variety of classes will appeal to any level or style of yoga, from restorative, to beginner, to level 3 advanced... ashtanga, iyengar, hatha or a mix of various methods. The owners, Christine and Gary, go out of their way to welcome new students, they encourage yogis to interact with each other and become a ""community"". This is the only studio I've ever been to, where, upon entering a class that's full and already started, students, teachers, and often Christine or Gary will happily greet a new yogi and move some mats to make room. No need to feel intimidated here, you will be embraced.

Provided by CitysearchLiberation Yoga is a welcome oasis in the hustle and bustle of the city and a true neighborhood spot. The main practice room has a beautiful and durable, yet ""giving"" floor, (trust me..I don't use a mat) and the garden room is delightfully unique. As a yoga practitioner for almost 20 years I have tried many different studios and I absolutely continue to favor Liberation Yoga. I particularly love the care and full commitment that Christine and Gary have made to the studio and the practice of yoga. This dedication comes through immediately as you step through the door. It has become a rarity in the current world of chain owned yoga studios. Teachers are fantastic.. I hope it's O.K. to say my very favorite is Lynn Taylor. My one wish: wish I had time to take more classes. LIBERATION YOGA is an absolute winner... Namaste

Provided by CitysearchIf you're a yoga pro you can probably go to any yoga studio and do what you need to do. For the rest of us a place like Liberation Yoga is really a gift. Very welcoming with lots of knowledge, different options for classes, friendly but not oppressive. Just a very good vibe and a very easy place to be.

Provided by CitysearchLove this studio! The quality of classes, teachers and students amazes me, it?s a reflection of a truly devoted community of Yoginis. Their class schedule offers plenty of PM classes for 9-6'ers who can't make it to the earlier classes. Weekend classes are a most, great way to start the Saturday and feel alive! They offer a few different styles of yoga for those who want to try something new without feeling like an outsider. The seminars and workshops offered throughout the month are very beneficial to help deepen your practice.
