Little Next Door

Very cozy and romantic. The atmosphere is magical and the service is excellent. We even got a good deal with our server!
One of the most romantic spots for dining in the city, though it'll cost you a pretty penny. Tables are situated in a beautiful courtyard garden, and you'll find the place by literally going through the "little door" in the hedges. Lots of celeb sightings...I saw Paris Hilton stalked by paparazzi here once.
It was disappointing and overpriced. Many places categorized this as a French restaurant but it is not a French restaurant. I had a birthday dinner for my girl friend on Sunday night with high expectation. The restaurant has a nice ambiance but the service was not that great. It wasn't bad but with the high price I pay, I would expect much higher level of service. The server misinformed us about the food item and we didn't get what we wanted. However, the menu is so limited and there was no other choice once we discovered the item was not what the server described. I was told when I made the reservation is that the restaurant has the same owner and same chef as the Next Door. However, I found out after eating there is that this place has an overpriced menu but not the same type of "French" food I could find next door. The food was average. Bottom line, I wouldn't come back or recommend this restaurant because it is overpriced, mis-categorized, and average service.

Provided by CitysearchI absolutely love this little place---and it's little place next door.
The deserts, entrees, and all else are scrumptious.
And the staff and service are wonderful.
Ironic, that at such a zestful place, where it's crowded every night of the week( and rightfully s), the staff have absilutely no attitude.
They are polite, but not to the point of being standoffish.
And the wit per order is reasonable-----and the creme brulee? That would make ANY amount of time worth it!!
The flourless chocolate cake here gives Urth( one of my FAVORITE spots), some serious competition!

Provided by CitysearchI have eaten at this restaurant a few times. The ambiance is very nice and cozy. The food is just ok considering the price you are paying.

Provided by CitysearchJust go and see it for yourself, I really doubt you'll be disappointed. Servers completely friendly and helpful, looks amazing inside (especially at night when the lights inside compliment the night sky). go around 730, you'll get the restaurant experience in the day and in the night.

Provided by Citysearchi love this place!! it gives you a chance to relax and enjoy great food and wine. we started with fois grass which the waiter recommended and he couldn't have been more right!!! so needless to say we left it up to him to suggest the rest!! he followed with escargot ...they were delicious!!! the smell of garlic and herbs served in these cute plates was superb and went very well with my glass of french chardonnay. since we were there at 4pm we took full advantage of wine and dine special with help from the most attentive waiter who recommended gnocchi with truffle. the dish was perfection!!! the delicate texture of gnocchi and creaminess of the sauce toped with black truffle made the perfect transition to something light...in this case our knowledgble waiter recomended the endive salad with blue cheese and walnuts.
it was a rich and decadent meal but that was exactly why we were there for. the way the flavors complimented each other was absolutely merit of the waiter who obviously knew what he was talking about. he was french but it takes more than that to know food. i have to give him alone 5 stars!!! his name is Stephan....ask for him next time you go there. i sure will:)

Provided by CitysearchCan't or won't go to Little Door? Try Little Next Door. I've been in several times but the last time, I had the French classic Nicoise Salad and it was absolutely wonderful. Fresh lettuce, perfectly seared tuna, crisp beans. The only weird thing were the potatoes because they looked like mango wedges. I kept expecting to eat mango (hello, it's Nicoise!) but now I'm wondering if that could be a California take on the classic. Otherwise, it's a wonderful salad.

Provided by CitysearchI've been to the Little Door a handful of times over the past few years and every time is just as amazing as the first time. The food, service and wine are always perfect! I even order desert here, which I don't usually order elsewhere, because its so good. Everything here tastes different and better than I expect it to. For example I ordered a tuna plate which I expected to be spicy, but it was sweet - unexpected but soooo delicious. It's a great date spot or great place to take out of town guests, the mood ambience and patio are sensational.

Provided by CitysearchI have eaten at the Little Door several times over the last 10 years. I love the ambiance. But I am progressively become more and more disenchanted. This is mainly due to the pomposity of their waiters. The food, which once was wonderful, is now just above ordinary for this kind of restaurant. I don't mind paying exuberant prices for an amazing experience, but the quality of food, over priced wine and inflated ego's of the waiters no longer justify their prices. It feels as though the Little Door has lost a little bit of it's soul.

Provided by CitysearchOther than the ambiance and the cozy Euro cafe feel, all I can say is this: I DON'T GET IT. (Oh, and this is coming from someone who LOVES The Little Door).
his place is an absolute must for all couples! The ambience and decor are perfect. The outdoor patio is covered with gorgeous little lights, trees, plants etc. You definately feel like you are somewhere other than Los Angeles. Tables are lit by candelight. The place is a bit loud because it is very full, but the atmosphere is very enjoyable. For dinner I had the grilled Ahi Tuna (medium rare) comes with baby veggies and a delicious hummus which was washed down with some fancy bottle of wine.
