This hospital has the worst ethical practices, and the worst professionalism with patients. They have horrible care and they will make mistakes and keep talking like you didn't hear them. They don't even apologize for mistakes. And then they want you to trust them with your health care issues. Everyone should file complaints.

Terrible, terrible, terrible!!! My wife was discharged while her pulse was still consistently dropping below 50. It had been dropping below 40 on several occasions over the last 2.5 days. We spent 10 hours in the emergency room after coming in via ambulance. She collapsed while visiting a friend at a local nursing home. The emergency room doctor and staff were attentive and the doctor took time to explain what was going on. But, after being admitted and when we got upstairs, a neurologist came in. He asked my wife, who was in extreme pain from a migraine and very weak due to her pulse, why he was even referred. When we were transferred up to her room from the ER, she had already been admitted two hours before and told then that she would get pain medication for her migraine. I had to go find her nurse after 10 minutes in the room. We had not even seen him yet. He told us that he could not give her any medication because it had not put in her profile yet. She is in extreme pain by this time and they would not let her take her own medication. I finally had to go ask to speak to a hospital administrator before a head nurse expedited getting her pain medication.
We were told that she was being transferred to a new room because the new section was better prepared for cardiac patients. Same thing happened after she was transferred to the new room. She was sobbing in pain while being transferred from one room to another. Then after three hours of extreme pain, the new nurse still cannot give here any medication because it had not been added to per profile. This is the same medication that she had already received in the other room. This time I go to the nursing station and ask for a doctor or administrator. I tell them that she has been in extreme pain for three hours and she WILL get medication or I will take her out of there to some place that will. They suddenly were able to give it to her.
To top it all off, she was discharged without having any kind of summary consultation with a doctor. We still don’t have a clue about why she collapsed or why her pulse rate was so low. We were told that the two EKGs they did were “slightly” abnormal but that they had no history to really compare them to. We told them that her primary care doctor had recent EKGs. They never attempted to get those or even contact him. The discharging nurse said that her pulse rate could be normal for her. We told here that we called the primary care doctor, and the last three pulse rate readings were 59, 60, and 61. She just shrugged her shoulders.
I could go into more, but I think I hit the high points. Bottom line is, if we can help it, we will never use Kennestone or Wellstar again.
STAY AWAY!! This place has turned into a dump, not that it was ever very good to start with. I'll spare the horror story but do yourself and your family a huge favor and STAY AWAY! There are amazing hospitals in Atlanta. Don't go thru hell when you don't need to! Go to NORTHSIDE!
I have nothing but good things to say about this hospital my mom had a stroke we already had a bad situation with her diabetes and advanced kidney disease so man went from bad to worse but the ICU unit in the neurological division which is in the blue Tower 5th floor are second to none!
Professionalism, excellent medical attention and warm caring environment depicts Kennestone Hospital. We have been here many times. This time we are on our 7th day. Consistently excellent care and attention given to our parent. I highly recommend this hospital and staff.
This place is so chaotic and very unorganized. Their computers were down when I arrived, at 1 pm. And we're back up and running around 2 or 3ish? And I'm still waiting at 4:55pm to go back with high blood pressure, severe hives and headache. They told me 2 hrs. It's been near 4 hrs as of now. I already had a panic attack from the stuffy crowd.
Socialized medicine… If you go here they will turn you into their lab rat. Unless you have a strong patient advocate do not go to this hospital. Most nurses I encountered have less than three years experience. ...this was the worst experience of my life. If you must go to ER, do not go to Kennestone.
Trauma center did their job well. Nursing was a giant FAIL! Final straw was the nurse dropping my pill cup and pills on a wet floor, then picking it up and expecting me to take them. When complain, to charge nurse, she just praised the nursing staff. Had them unhook me and I walked out. Poor, uncaring nursing staff. Never go there again.
Please seek help elsewhere. As soon as you have a complication with their scheduling or otherwise, they throw "legal this" & "legal that" at you. Lack of empathy.. rude (and I use the term as loosely as possible) "nurses". Those females need customer service training and a hug. No bueno
This hospital used to be a good place to go for emergencies. But, they have started sending half the patients over to a trailer connected to the building called the "ambulatory care unit." This shack is manned by one physician's assistant and a nurse. The PA is always on a power trip and basically refuses to go ask an MD when he is at loss as to what is wrong or when he needs a prescription signed. The nurse is a rude and vile person who must think the rooms are sound proof, because the entire time you are waiting to see the PA she is standing at the desk talking about everything from her mom to patients who were discharged. It's a good place to go if you want to hear a bunch of gossip, but if you would like immediate and professional care I suggest another hospital or request a doctor!
