The Traffic Violations Bureau collects traffic summons, citations and ordinance summons issued by the Memphis police department. It is operated by the office of the city court clerk. The bureau has processed more than 131,000 traffic summons, over 77,100 parking citations and nearly 1,950 ordinance summons. The Traffic Violations Bureau is a part of the city of Memphis in Tennessee, which governs a range of other public safety departments, such as emergency management, police services and fire services. Its department of fire services is responsible for extinguishing and controlling fires, emergency rescue, transportation to local hospitals and disaster management.
