this place is a joke.my husban...

this place is a joke.my husband went to dr chavin and my husband had been in pain for more than 15 yrs. while going to this pain clinic my husband had surgery and was in the hospital for a week. when my husband got out of the hospital he had a visit with dr chavin's p.a my husband told dave the p.a that he just had surgery and their was other pain meds in his system, so dave sends him to get a drug test done. sure enough the next visit the drug test comes back showing the meds the hospital had gave him in his system.there was another p.a in daves place come to find out dave was fired and another p.a was also fired and this woman p.a was saying well you failed your drug test so we are letting you go. so we explained to her about the surgery and the meds and she says i'm sorry dave didn't write anything in here about that .so my husband who had a brainstem tumor surgery that left him in real bad pain along with really bad nerve pain and back surgery that left him with bad siatic nerve pain was left with no dr to treat him. my husband said dr.chavin told him once when he was putting shots in his back that he didn't see how these other dr's made any money when all they gave him was pain meds for his pain...and didn't do the shots or epideralds or the stemulator in his back.my husband tried the stemulator in his back and it made his body keep viborating after it was cut off. seems like money is made in other ways by good ol dr. chavin..money hungery through shots...anyway you sit in his office for hours while he is making his money somehow.

Dr. Chavin is. He is rude, unprofessional, and thinks he's entitled to whatever he wants! He likes to go into businesses around Morristown and scream at young women! He called this one woman a tart (Google it, if you're not sure what it means. Yelp wont let me put it in my review!) when he went into Lowe's! He also said that she was "just like every other American worker and didn't want to work or help anyone!" Wow! Very professional, Dr. Chavin! He said that she was going to get fired for the way she treated him when all she did was walk up and ask if she could help him. He gloated about what a huge sale he was going to have on carpet. He thinks he's entitled because he's a Doctor. Dr. Chavin is a disgrace. I don't know about you, but I would not want to see a "Doctor" who bashes the way America is! I bet his nurses and staff would love to hear the way he talks about "American workers". Hey, Dr. Chavin!! If you don't like it, feel free to leave the country!!

Very happy with service at Morristown Pain Consultants. Dr. Chavin and staff spent lots of time working me up. If you want real pain management and are not a drug seeker you should go to Dr. Chavin. I have been going to Morristown Pain for over five years. I know people that went to Dr. Chavin and were discharged for selling their medications. There were very upset even though they sold their pills. Dr. Chavin is actively fighting a terrible drug problem in Morristown and the surrounding area. Dr. Chavin's treatments and injections helped quite a bit. Highly recommended for real people with real pain problems. Thanks for all your help!!!

DID THEY MENTION U PAY NEARLY $400.00 FOR A URINE DRUG SCREE

I've been going to Mr. chavin's clinic for a little over 2 months and everything was going well untill today! I am going because I am in the Suboxone program(which is a miricle if your trying to kick the habit). When you are there for your first visit you get forms to fill out just like everyother Phsyician. No where in any of the forms that I filled out and signed my name to ever said n/e thing about an extra charge of $400.00 for them to take a urine sample. Oh I forgot to mention that i have no insurence. So I'm paying $230.00 for my script and $150.00 for every visit, and now this $1200.00 BILL I JUST GOT.
Now, I can go and buy my own 12 point urine sample kit for no more than $70.00. Who in there right mind is going to pay $400.00 for a drug screen. I have two kids I am supporting by myself and currently doing odd jobs just to stay ahead. I love the Suboxone program because it works, but this bill is most likely the nail in the coffin for me and my treatment at mr. Chavins office.

My son and I were happy with visit and care.

I am a granny and have severe low back pain and am on Medicare. I was going to a Johnson City Pain Center and they stopped my insurance and wanted me to pay $190.00 cash each visit.

I had been referred to Dr. Chavin at Morristown Pain Consultants in Morristown by another patient. Even though the drive from Johnson City is over one hour I am glad I went to him and he takes my Medicare!

The last pain center I went to was run by a nurse practitioner and even though I went there for eight months before they stopped taking my medicare, I never saw a doctor.

Dr. Chavin spent a good deal of time with me. I was afraid to have a shot in my back because of my age (72). Dr. Chavin was thorough with me and did all sorts of testing. He explained to my grandson and me what was wrong. I had trust in him and you know what, the epidural injection worked great! I walk better, sleep better, I'm in less pain and I'm on less medications and my life is better. Thank you so much!!

I have recommended you to friends of mine

Sincerely, WAT

Thank you for the help with my neck and back pain!

My back and neck have been hurting for over 20 years and I have been around the block in terms of doctors. I live in morristown and have been to two other pain docs and was not impressed. I originally went to Dan Martin, PA and all he did was get me on high dose Roxicodone. He then sent me to Dr. Mohamed the neurologist and all he did was switch me over to methadone. He would not listen to me or answer my questions even when I would tell him that I was having side effects from the medications. He spent very little time and showed even less interest in actually helping me. I then went to Dr. Harris at Heatlhstar where Dr. Harris did injections. Again very little time was spent and after the three injections he stated that he nothing else to over and stated he dos not do long term pain management - go figure. I then went to Dr. Chavin and he and his staff did a complete workup on me - the most thorough in last 15 years! Dr. Chavin found ount that my thyroid was low and now on treatment my depression is better as is my energy level. Dr. Chavin ordered a Dexa bone density test and found out that I had osteoporosis and now I am on treatment for this. In terms of back pain, Dr. offered me spinal cord stimulation and after a successful trial I now have it implanted in my back and it has been a godsend for me. My life is so much better for having gone to Dr. Chavin - Thanks.

Excellent care with Dr. Chavin at Morristown Pain Consultant

I was very impressed with Morristown Pain Consultants after having severe back pain for many years.

Dr. Michael Chavin was very detailed in his work. I had a full workup and felt comfortable from the start. A lot of time was spent on the initial and subsequent visits.

Dr. Chavin's workup found that I had osteoporosis and hep c which was not found out by my primary doctor.

The injections were very helpful and I appreciate the fact that I am on lower doses of pain medications.

I have recommended you to family and friends. I am very glad my friend told me about you Dr. Chavin. Thanks to Craig and the rest of the staff!

Unprofessionalism At Its Finest

I really don't know where to begin, but I have had a multitude of surgeries on my back and after ""adhering"" to their programs, medication counts and urine tox screens, thus passing them, I still have been treated so terrible. I have traveled the world and have never experienced a degree of unprofessionalism nearly to the degree of this place. I have had nothing but terrible reactions to the injections, which left me so sick that I was bedridden and too weak to get up my stairs. I was not allowed to have an appontment to discuss this with Dr. Chavin, unless I was to come in for my 3rd and last injection. Hello! I am ill from what you gave to me, and you want me to have more without evaluating me first, to discuss my conditions and concerns??!! Rather unethical, don't you think? All this place seems to care about doing is insulting you, not listening to what you have to say and racking up insurance bills. The six hour wait on every appointment is absurd as well, especially when you are having to bring someone to wait with you, for injections. I have never seen such a vulgar display of arrogance and disconcernment where other people's feelings, time and health is at stake. In addition, this office is VERY unsanitary.

My back pain is so much better!

I have had back pain for at least 8 years. I have been to pain clinics in Johnson City, Knoxville and Morristown and I have found Dr. Michael Chavin to be the most thorough of them all.

Dr. Chavin took a lot of time with me and even my husband was surprised at much time was spent. The complete workup that you did was more than my PCP had done and because of the workup you diagnosed Hep C and low thyroid condition. I am feeling much better now that I am on appropriate medications. The injections were quite helpful and the spinal cord stimulator has dramatically improved the quality of my life. Even though I am on Tenncare you treated me right!

I have recommended you to my friends, thank you.

Top Doc in Morristown for Pain!

I wish to thank this Doc for the excellent job he did on me.
Thank you for not discharging me when I overused my narcotics. You understood that my pain is mind bending!

Both I and my wife appreciate the implanted pain pump my medtronics. This pump has been a miracle for me

The pump has allowed me to have excellent pain relief with essentially no oral medications. I appreciate your attention to detail and all the time spent on me.
I am a new man.

I have recommended you to several people and would recommend you to anyone who has severe pain and has been to other docs without relief. Again muchos gracious!

Overall
great relief and thank you for listening to me!

I read the last entry on 12-5-10 and could not disagree more!. I have worked in the health care field as a nurse assistant and have worked with many pain patients. There is a terrible problem with narcotic drug abuse in east Tennessee and the problem is getting progressively worse.

I have been a patient of Dr. Chavin's for over three years and have had excellent care by Dr. Chavin and his staff. Dr. Chavin has had done injections on my several times. I undergo a series of Cervical and Lumbar injections about once per year.

At first I was hesitant, but I am now a firm believer in them. When I get a series of three of them over about six weeks, I get about 8 or 9 months of excellent relief . And by a year, I am requesting them again because of how much they help.

I have talked with Dr. Chavin about this and he explained to me that if the first series provided good pain relief than he and the patient can discuss this again in 6 to 8 months. If they don't provide adequate relief than they never need to be done again and the patient can still remain in the clinic.

Dr. Chavin explained that because of the very severe problem with drug abuse including diversion (selling the drugs) and addiction, that if a new patient has pathology that could benefit from an injection then Dr. Chavin expects the patient to be willing to undergo these injections with goal of reducing or eliminating the need for narcotic medications, increasing range of motion, increasing activity of daily living and decreasing pain levels.

In other words, many doctors can prescribe pain medications but few have the expertise that Dr. Chavin has in doing injections. Dr. Chavin does injections under live x-ray for accuracy and told me he has done them since 1987 as a doctor. I have spoken with patients in the waiting room who have had procedures done by Dr. Chavin including implantable pain pumps, spinal cord simulators and those who have used the accuspinal spinal decompression table (like a Vax-D) and have had great results. Certainly not all patients respond to injections or any other procedures from Dr. Chavin or any Doctor for that matter.

Dr. Chavin and his staff offer multiple approaches to pain management. If like the lady of 12-5-10 you have ""mild pain on low dose pain meds"" you should not go to Morristown Pain Consultants. Morristown Pain Consultants and Dr. Chavin have the expertise, experience, and ability to handle and treat severe pain problems. Mild pain should be treated by a family doctor or a ""pill mill"" that only offers narcotics.

Dr. Chavin explained that if a patient has significant pain and only wants pain medications, then given the amount of diversion and drug addiction he is not able to treat them. Dr. Chavin believes that patient's with real and significant pain are open and anxious to try different therapies for relief of their pain. Dr. Chavin told me that long narcotics usage in patients can very negative effects and that he only wants to work with patients that are motivated to get better and hopefully get on lower doses of narcotic and prescription drugs.

I admire Dr. Chavin for his passion to provide excellent and innovative care to his patients.

If you have severe pain and need help and have been to other Doctors that have not provided you with the relief that you need and deserve than I could not recommend Dr. Chavin and Morristown Pain Consultants more. From personal experience I can guarantee that Dr. Chavin and his staff will spend a lot of time working you up, ordering appropriate labs, scans, MRI's and whatever else you need to accurately diagnose and treat your unique pain problem.

Kudos to Morristown Pain Consultants and Dr. Chavin!

My neck pain is much better - I appreciate you!

Dr. Chavin and Staff have really helped with my pain problem

I was discharged from Dr. Mohamed for missing a pill count. Prior to this I had gone to Dr. McNeil at Bearden Pain Management and had to stop going because he lost the ability to take my insurance. Dr. McNeil had me on excessive oral medications which included 10 30 mg roxi's per day. Dr. Mohamed placed me on Methadone which didn't work and I ended up taking oxy from off the the street.

Dr. Chavin was very stern, which I appreciated and explained how I had an addiction issue as well as real pain.

Injections in the neck included epidruals and facet injections and along with proper pain medications I am much better and on much lower doses of medications overall.

I do appreciate you for your time and effort. I have recommended you to several friends

My back pain is much better!

I had been to several other doctors in Morristown, Johnson City and Greenville. I had been discharged for misuse of medications. I am lucky that Dr. M Chavin allowed me to come to his clinic.

When I first came to the clinic he read me the riot act. I deserved it and it helped straighen me out.

The first visit they spent about 70 minutes with me face to face. They really listened to me. After a complete work-up including bone scan, xrays, mri, dexa scan, and labs they figured out what was really wrong with me.

They were the first clinic to find out that mly testosterone was low and stated treating me. They were the only pain clinic that checked my liver function and found out that I had Hep C and got me treatement for this.

Dr. Chavin gave me injections which were helpfull and after this I underwent a spinal cord stimulator trial was relieved my pain of 9 years about 75%. After the implant I life is very much better and I have weaned off of almost all my narcotics. Thank G-d!

Thank you Dr M Chavin and Staff (Craig) for your help. I have recommended you to several friends and they are happy at your clinic.

Did a great job and spent a lot time!

I read the last entry on Oct 29, 2010 and could not disagree more. I have been with Dr. Chavin for over three years and he is an excellent pain doctor. He spent over two hours on the first visit and ordered tests including MRI, Dexa scan, full labs and X-rays. No other Pain Doc had ever done a thorough work up. He diagnosed my pain and did injections which did help. Recently he placed a St. Jude Spinal Cord Stimulator which really has lessened my pain and I have decreased my medications by over 70%!, Thanks.

I went to Bearden Heathcare and was massively overdosed and almost died prior to coming to Dr. Chavin. They were not rude there but what a joke, they kept raising the dose of my narcotics until I could barely think. When I went to Dr. Chavin he was very stern and concerned about the massive amounts of narcotics that I was on. The truth was that even though I had pain I was addicted. It was due to Dr. Chavin that I was able to treat my addiction and get control of pain. Dr. Chavin is real tough, but to deal with the drug addiction and diversion problem in Morristown and the surrounding area this is how it needs to be. I have found Dr. Chavin to be an excellent doctor over three years. He has been in the same location for 11 years and has many hundreds of happy patients. When I am in the waiting room on my visits I see new patients trying to get into the clinic who are there only to get narcotics to sell or abuse (some of these people I know personally). These scum ruin it for everyone and these are the ones that complain on line.

If you have pain he can help

Best Pain MD in the area!

I have been reading reviews in the Morristown area for some time and after reading some of the reviews of Dr. Chavin I joined so that I could comment.

I have been with Dr. Chavin since early 2002. he has been in the same location for over 10 years. He and his staff have done a tremendous job with my pain and I have referred many patients to Dr. Chavin who have been very satisfied. My life is so much better for having gone to Dr. Chavin's clinic.

Dr. Chavin is very aggressive fighting the flood of drug addiction and diversion in east Tennessee. The problem is out of control. If you misuse your meds you will be thrown out of the clinic, period!

I know people who have been going to Florida on the ""oxycontin express"" to get large quantities of Roxicodone and Xanax to sell in the east Tennessee area. When they went to Dr. Chavin they were thrown out on their ears. I spoke with several of them who I know and they complained how easy it was to just show up in a Florida clinic and pay your $200 and get what ever you wanted, no questions asked. They stated how ""rude"" Dr. Chavin was. (what did they expect?)

They were pissed off because Dr. Chavin saw right through them and they were rejected and discharged.

For your information - one prescription of Roxicodone 30 mg given five per day has a street valve of $4,500 per month and and $54,000 per year. This is a prescription of 150 per month. Bearden Heathcare gives out 200 to 400 per month routinely!

At $30 dollars per pill street valve and selling 5 per day that is $150 per day x 30 days = $4,500/month. People that are selling these drugs are vicious and evil. Even if they take half and sell half they can easily make over two thousand dollars a month. Usually the drug sellers are addicted so even if they are selling some of their pills, if they also take the Roxicodone than their UDS shows the drug in it and it is difficult to detect that they are selling some of their pills.

Bottom line, if you have real severe pain and need expert help, Dr. Chavin can help. However, if you are a drug abuser or drug seller than Bearden Health was designed especially for you.

WORST Medical facitlity experience of my life

This medical facility was the absolute worse experience in my entire fifty plus years bar none. One of the gatekeepers was both rude and prone to
exaggeration. When I could not perform an urine analysis when asked, that particular staff member was both considerate and understanding, allowing me to drink
some water whilst mentioning that it happened frequently and that there was plenty of time to complete it later. I requested my prescribed medication at least three
times from two different people and was denied all three times. The extreme pain kept my mind from focusing during a medical history interview and a self described
office manager took over. She showered me with accusations and continuously raised her voice berating me like an errant child. At one point literally hollering at me,
""This area is the worst in the nation for drug addicts! If you don't believe me read the paper!"" When she stormed out of the exam room telling another member,
""Tell him he is free to GO!"", I left the empty room in my wheelchair and exited the building. Getting that wheelchair into the back of a pickup by myself is very difficult.
Apparently my crippled self was not moving fast enough for them because a Morristown police officer arrived saying, amongst other things, that 'they don't want you
on the property'.
That police officer was the friendliest most compassionate individual I had seen all day. I did have X-rays, nerve studies, and doctor's reports that they
refused to review. Regardless of how many junkies, dope fiends, and malingering frauds that facility encounters, it does NOT give them the right to berate and
humiliate a veteran that is crippled and saddled with a legitimate need for pain medication.

Compationate?! My Foot!

I had surgery on 10/04/2010 and Dr. Chavin let me down in every way imaginable!
I called his office as I was told to do to get a medication increase and was treated like sh*t! I was then told I could take 1 extra pain pill. I am cut from Breastbone to Bellybutton and this man tells me to take 1 extra mild pain pill? I have been crying in pain all day and to these people it did not matter!
2 1/2 months ago I was informed I would get injections in my back or Dr. Chavin would not see me... When I told him I had a 16 yr old daughter that was paralized, I was told to ""let her fend for herself"" because she was only causing me more back pain! I did the injections and on the 3rd visit I was told to take a Morphine tablet and a 2mg Zanex by the nurse (this was noted in my chart) and I was passed out in his office! He never called an ambulance or gave me a nurse to watch over me. Just told my mother to keep an eye on me and when I fell out of the chair onto my neck, they came in, did my visit, and sent me home! I SHOULD HAVE BEEN SENT TO THE HOSPITAL! Thank God my mother was there, because I don't remember any of the visit!
They even took me back and did my shots while I was passed out!
He may have helped some people, but he almost killed me! He thinks he is God! And ladies...Do not dress up, he's a pervert! Likes to ""Check out"" the goodies.
Dr. Michael Chavin, one day you will get yours and I hope like hell you don't get a Dr as arrogant as you are! NOBODY DESERVES THE TREATMENT YOU DISH OUT!

Excellent Doctor He helped me when no one else could!

Was expert at helping with my pain. Injections were very helpfull and then Dr. Chavin inserted a spinal cord stimulator which has taken away 90% of my pain.

I read other reviews from people who have been discharged - what do you expect! When I sat in the waiting room at Morristown Pain Consultants there were patients talking about how they were going to sell their drugs. That visit when the patient who was selling his drugs finished his visit he was discharged due to being short about 20 Roxicodone. When he came out to the waiting room he said that he was going to slander Dr. Chavin on the internet even though he was selling his drugs!

Dr. Chavin is very strict. If you can use your medications correctly and do abuse or sell them you have found a great doctor. If you abuse, sell or in any way misuse your medications you deserve to be discharged.

Wake up! Addiction and diversion of narcotics is an epidemic destroying the very soul of our town and society. Morristown is infested with drug abuse and the police and TBI are impotent to control it. Because of the low life drug dealers, they are making it almost impossible for people with real pain to get the help they need.

Dr. Chavin is on the front line of this curse of drug addiction and diversion. l applaud his passion!
