Our most recent trip (about a week ago) was quite a surprise. The food offerings were different and quite improved. We received great service form our waiter who was pleasant and very friendly.
When I first ate at Applebee's fifteen years ago, I got sick!! I guess not too much has changed over the past years. Only this time, I got sick by looking at the way the employees were treated. Not to mention the service was not so great either. I have eaten at this location probably around ten or twelve times considering that it is only a mile up the road. During my last visit I was appalled by what I witnessed. As I was sitting next to the bar I noticed a what looked to be a manager. Because it was later on in the night I was able to hear what was going on around me. I witnessed my server running around trying to get my drinks from the bar when the manager stopped him and asked for him to pick up the phone. Now, this would not be such a bad thing because it was ringing...what made it sick was that the manager was obviously not doing anything, which seems to be the case most of the time. Apparently this manager likes to assert his authority because he obviously hates his job. But, not only did the manager rudly ask the employee to get the phone...he actually let it ring. This poor excuse for a manager reminded me of a type of manager that likes to work against his employees and not with them. So, when my drinks arrived late...which is normally the case.....I asked my server what the guys name was. It turns out that this sorry excuse is named Jeff. I would love for the Applebee's Corporation to look into this and please fire this man. Other than this, the food was ok, late but ok, and my server was nothing special.
We went in to this rest at 7:30PM and were told that we could not have a table because they were all reserved for other people. I ash when did you start taking reservations and was told that this was for a special group. I had to sit at a bar stool even though I am severlly Handicapped. I told that waiter that I could not sit on a bar stool and was told that I could do that or leave and come back later. So I suffered with my group of eight people. We all ordered drinks and my coffee was cold as if it had been poured at least one hour. We all ordered food, they brought food for four of us and then after we ask the manager thrity minutes later he brought the others, we could not get any drink refills. I am cutting off all my sales people from using your rest.s. We only use them approx twenty times per week. I am advising all emplyyees not to use Applebees. Unless this issue is resolved today and I mean today as I was totally embarassed in front of my friends from out of town that we were entertaining. I was horassed as to what kind of service I could get and why I was treated this way.
Sincerely
Jesse Riggs
